Photography by David Glynn Jones

Most of these photographs were taken in the last ten years. This small selection isn’t exactly random, but I couldn’t really explain why I’ve chosen one photograph rather than another. These are just my current favourites. Tomorrow it might be different.

I’ve been interested in photography since I was in primary school, when I began developing films, and making black and white prints, in a makeshift darkroom. The first good camera I had was a Russian Cosmic 35. My first single lens reflex camera was a Zenith B, with a 50mm Industar lens.

Recently I’ve been using a Panasonic LF1 as a walk around camera, but for more serious photography I use a Sony Alpha 7. This is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, with a full-frame sensor, and a narrow body. The advantage of this is that you can attach almost any lens (with an adaptor). My vintage Nikon lenses, coupled with this camera, produce a distinctly old fashioned look. I have also acquired the excellent Zeiss Loxia 50mm manual prime lens, which has restored the same level of feel and control I had when using film, but with improved functionality and greater definition.
