UKULELE ORCHESTRA OF GREAT BRITAIN

TIME OUT LIVE

30 MAY 1988

OLYMPIA

LONDON
It was bank holiday Monday. I picked up Sarah, and drove across to George’s flat. Kitty made everyone breakfast. Gradually the band turned up, and we went to Olympia in taxis. I wasn’t very impressed by the Time Out Live exhibition, but the music was good. The ukes performed at lunchtime on the main stage. The audience were a little flat, and the acoustics a bit dull, but there was nothing wrong with their set. Later we returned to George’s, and then went out for the traditional post gig curry.

This was my last ukes video for a while. Having filmed them eight times in nine months I decided to take a break. I still went to the club at the Empress, and watched them every couple of weeks, but I didn’t feel the need to shoot everything. By the time I picked up the camera again, two and a half years later, things had changed. (Although unfortunately the camera hadn’t.)
